In the room where you find the lantern there is a hole in the ceiling. By stacking boxes you can climb up into the room, where you can find. . . the easter egg.

I did see someone skip the lantern once. They climbed the rocks and walked over the level until they reached the door between the Old Archives and the Entrance hall, dropped through the ceiling, and clicked the loading door before falling beneath the castle, thus safely planting them back on ground level in the Hall, lantern free.

But when I tried it, it didn't work. I may be going about it wrong, but I suspect Frictional fixed it in one of the patches. Very sad; Brennenburg from above looks really nifty.
